Need assistance on posts indexing

I have updated my posts 3 weeks ago and some of them indexed on Google and not some. They’re still showing the older information. Refer the sensitive data for sample URLs and screenshots. Below the steps tried from my end. If you could ensure all posts are indexed, that’d be great.

Reindexed the affected posts using Google search console and waited for 2 weeks
Removed sitemaps and re-added them on Google Search Console
    Used instant indexing
The cached date shows the recent date.
Verified all my posts indexed on Bing and had no issues
Posts are selected index and not no-index
    No robots.txt block
Added new internal links to the posts and indexed but no luck.
Cleared cache and tested using different browsers.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The meta description definition on your page seems to have an issue. It is defined as <meta name=description content="How to se... instead of <meta name="description" content="How to se... Would you please check the screenshot I have added in the sensitive section.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, please record a video screencast using a tool like Loom showing the troubleshooting and edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I tried to use the troubleshooting plugin on your site but it seems to break and not work on your site.

Could you try switching to a default theme and deactivating your plugins one by one to find the one causing the issue?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for contacting me. All plugins are updated and confirmed no conflicts. I don’t know on how to check the meta description that you shared. However, I would like to confirm that all settings are same and some posts were indexed without any issues and some not. The temporary login is created and shared it on sensitive data. If you could access the admin page and investigate the issue, that’d be most appreciated.

I’m afraid to change the theme as it impacts my customers experience. I have already disabled plugins one by one but no luck. Again, some posts correctly indexed and some not so it looks like something else causing the problem. All these posts have updated 3 weeks ago. Maybe the issue causing from Google end?

    Hello,

    Thank you for following up.

I’ve checked the affected URLs you have shared, and it seems that the meta title and description are already set, as well as in the page’s source code. In this case, you just have to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index the page with your new updated meta title and description.

You can also visit this link to check if Google has already seen the changes and for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/#4-the-latest-version-of-your-page-hasnt-been-indexed

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

    Hi Reinelle,

Thank you for looking into it. I had ensured all the affected posts have the latest cached date but still the meta title and it’s contents aren’t indexed on Google. As you suggested, I will wait for Google to re-index the page.

    Hello,

    You’re very welcome.

I also wanted to add that we have Google’s new indexing API to get your website’s pages and content crawled immediately rather than having to wait that you might want to consider.

    Here’s a step-by-step instruction you can follow:
    https://rankmath.com/blog/google-indexing-api/

I hope that helps. Please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle,

Yes, it’s already activated on my website. Also, tried indexing pages using this indexing but no luck.

    Hello,

Could you try modifying your description meta to see if this has any effect?

I checked your URL on Google from my end with a modified keyword and it seems to show a different description meta, check the screenshot I have added in the sensitive section.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

Google isn’t showing the correct meta description which is set on the post. Refer screenshot-1. When search the post on Google without the “description” keyword, then the meta description shows something else. Refer screenshot-2. The meta description set on the post is correct. The single post description on the SEO titles & meta set to %seo_description%

    Hello,

The reason I added the word description to the search URL was to show you that the description shown for your URL may be different dependent on the search term.

I have again searched your URL including some of the words from your description and as you can see in screenshot 2 in the sensitive section, the correct meta is shown.

Screenshot 1 shows your second URL with the correct meta.

That said, what you’ll come to realize is the case in the industry – search engines choose what they display. Given that this process takes place automatically, behind-the-scenes at Google – there is little that we (or you) can do to ensure that Google does in fact use the meta description you’ve written.

That being said, here are some of the most common reasons Google might not use the meta description you’ve provided:

-The meta description is not relevant or useful (ie, just a collection of keywords).
-The exact same meta description is provided across a large number of pages.
-The meta description doesn’t match what the user is searching for, but other content on the page does.
    – Some page content, according to Google algorithms, answers the user question better then provided description

Hope this clears this issue. Thank you.
