Multisite noindex doesn’t work

#220065
  • I’ve got a multisite (build in Elementor) and I would like to have my main page (www.inkijkje.nl) displaying on Google, but not a couple of my subdomains (for instant www.inkijkje.nl/randstad). I’ve tried setting those pages to no index, however they still appear on Google. I’ve also added the Unlist Posts & Pages plugin, but it doesn’t work. In the end I would like to have my subdomains only to be accessable when someone has the link.

Hope anyone can help, thank you!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Upon visiting the URL, I found the page is already set to noindex after visiting the cached version of your website from SERP. I found that Google hasn’t crawled your updated version of the page; hence the page is still showing in the SERP,

    Last crawled date: 18 June

    See the screenshot:

I would advise you to wait for few days, and soon your page will disappear from SERPs.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Ankit,

Thanks for your quick reply. Can you see if my main website (www.inkijkje.nl) is still on there? It’s important to me that this one will be easy to find in Google.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ankit,

Unfortunately the subdomains still appear on Google. Do you have any idea how long it takes until they won’t anymore?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

It depends on the crawl frequency of Google for your website.

De Indexing of a page might take few days until Google crawls those pages again and sees the changes.

I suggest you clear your website’s cache and wait for Google to crawl the pages again and see if the pages get removed.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I also wanted to add that in this case that Google is still showing those links on the search results pages even if they are already set to noindex, you can use the page removal tool in your Google Search Console account

    Removal

This should take about 24-48 hours to remove the URLs upon submitting.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.
