Mobile Snapshot Not Working | Blocked by SiteGround Anti-Bot

    Good Day!

    Recently, SiteGround enhanced their anti-bot code.

    As a result, our dashboard data no longer displays correctly and our mobile snapshot displays SiteGround’s anti-bot page (i.e., it’s blocked).

    We already deactivated/reactivated your plugin and flushed all cache.

    Please provide a fix. My initial suggestion is that you guys need to coordinate this with SiteGround’s developers to whitelist your IPs and/or end points.

    Hello,

    That is expected because of the caching situation that was mentioned in the WordPress forums and in here in this ticket.

    If we decide to make any changes on this front regarding the caching of the snapshot we’ll let everyone know but at the moment the financial investment to have a system that would allow users un-gated access to the mobile snapshot would likely be huge because we would be charged every time a user clicks the link to run the tests and some people could abuse that.

    In case the situation changes in the future we’ll update the users via the usual communication channels.

    Hey guys,

    Our issue has been resolved (temporarily). We had to wait TWO WEEKS before thum.io’s mobile snapshot cache was cleared. To us, this is unacceptable. Our expectation is that every time we run RM’s SEO Analyzer, all results are current or near current.

    Until the main issue is addressed (shorter caching interval or ability to manually clear the mobile snapshot cache), we believe there’s potential for this issue to resurface – again and again.

    Useful:

    Research reveals there are better “mobile snapshot” services in the market (better than thum.io) that will allow you to:

    1. Clear cache at your discretion.
    2. Avoid lock-ups due to anti-bots.
    3. Customize the capture, display, and refresh rate of mobile snapshots based on both custom API services and Workers.

    Worth exploring 🙂

    Just read your update …

    So, yes, that is understood (the financial investment required to enhance your mobile snapshopt module).

    Based on your comment and what we’ve learned here:

    1. Has RM contacted all other mobile snapshot companies available in the market to confirm your statement?

    2. Has RM considered establishing a rock-solid partnership with one of those companies to make your financial investment affordable? For example, Premium customers would get 5 to 10 credits per month to clear the mobile snapshot cache. Free customers would get none. Something similar to your AI credits.

    3. Until 1. and 2. above are addressed, has RM considered adding a note below the Mobile Snapshot module (inside RM’s SEO Analyzer) stating something like: “Note: The mobile snapshot image is refreshed every 2 weeks regardless of the number of times the SEO analyzer is run.” This goes along with the quote: “Forewarned is Forearmed!”

    The points #1 and #2 are something that is currently out of our control but rest assured that the product team and the management are already aware of this situation.

    Regarding the inclusion of a warning message below the test, we are going to discuss this with our developers and see if it’s possible to add that to provide further clarity into the situation.
