    Hi,
Rank Math reports missing alt tags. I checked with a third-party plugin and there is none missing.

Also, missing alt tags should be automatically added.

    Something inconsistent.

alt tags should be automatically added

    ...but alt tags are missing

    Thanks,
    Jürgen

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Checking the affected image element, it seems to be empty or the src is missing. Without the src, it doesn’t render any image output so Rank Math ignores it.

Please ensure that the image generates a src attribute or if this image has lazyloading feature, you may try to disable it and see if Rank Math is able to generate an alt attribute.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Thanks Jeremey,
But how do I find the image with the missing alt tag…I have thousands on my site.

    Thanks,
    Jürgen

    Hello,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    [moved to sensitive data]

I removed lazyloads and ran sidebar, header, and footer through an alt checker…they are all good.

I also checked all websites back to early January, when rankmath reported no missing alt tags.

I think rank math registers missing alt tags in error.

    Hello,

There was an empty image block in your header that was adding an empty img tag with an empty alt attribute.

I removed it and now it is not being detected by the SEO Analysis:

You can confirm that by checking your page with our external SEO analyzer: https://rankmath.com/tools/seo-analyzer/

However, the SEO analysis on your site is still not updated. Please wait for sometime and then navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools and Remove Rank Math Transients & Clear SEO Analysis.

Once done, clear the cache of your site and run the analysis again.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Deactivating lazyload created the missing alt tag.

    Problem solved.

    Thanks,
    Jürgen

    Hello,
