Migrating from Yoast to RankMath – Robots.txt Question

#930172
  • Hi everyone,

I recently switched from Yoast SEO to RankMath on my website (https://lex.com.pk), and so far, the transition has been smooth. All the settings migrated successfully, and I love the additional features that RankMath offers.

However, I noticed that my robots.txt file still seems to have configurations from Yoast SEO. I’m wondering, should I leave it as it is, or is it recommended to update it specifically for RankMath? If it needs changes, could someone guide me on how to properly configure the robots.txt file in RankMath?

I’ve also been working on optimizing my website and want to ensure all technical SEO aspects are aligned perfectly for better results. Would updating the robots.txt file make any noticeable difference?

Looking forward to hearing from the experts here!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

You may follow our default and recommended rules for your robots.txt in this guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/#default-rules

Also, ensure that there’s no physical robots.txt file in your website’s root directory as Rank Math’s robots.txt is generated virtually.

    Looking forward to helping you.
