migrate from Yoast

#336856
  • Hi,

I have a large website and need to migrate from Yoast to Rank Math. My site has over 2m+ pages and I need to keep the data consistent. If I follow your normal migration tutorial would it work ok?

I also need RankMath’s SEO title and description meta name to update my post meta programmatically if necessary.

    Thank you

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support today and bringing your concern to our attention.

Yes, following our guide here, should help you properly migrate all the data from Yoast to Rank Math. This should also include the previous meta title and description data.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back. Does your migration wizard support custom post types?

    Hello,

If you are referring to its keywords and meta data, yes, we support importing those data from Yoast as well.

Hope this helps you with your situation.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi,

I have tried to import my meta data from Yoast but it is getting stuck. Please see the screenshot attached. https://ibb.co/8sw9Fg2

    Hello,

It seems that your server can’t handle the process as you have 2 million+ pages/posts.

You would need to increase your PHP values such as PHP Memory Limit, Max input time, PHP time limit and PHP max input variables.

Please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase these values. See if this resolves the issue.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

    Hi,

I have increased those values and tried again but it is still failing. I think it is because browser timeout. Is there another way to do it via a system cron or SQL?

    Hello,

Could you please share the values you’ve set for the variables suggested by my colleague? Normally, we suggest having the following values :

    PHP Memory Limit: 512M
    Max input time: 150
    PHP time limit: 120
    PHP max input variables: 1000

But as you have a very high number of posts, you should increase the values even higher.

You can also try importing the data by selecting the fields one by one. Here’s a screenshot: https://i.rankmath.com/q0VEbU

We suggest you test this on a staging website first and then push it to the live website. You may follow this article to create the staging website: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/

Please let us know how that goes.

We’re looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
