    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

    On the post/page/CPT list view, the actual metadata is shown. In your case, it seems like the meta description is picked from the excerpt of the post, hence the %excerpt% variable is shown.

    This has nothing to do with your rankings. Using variables shortens the manual work and eliminates the need for writing the same content twice.
