    Hi,
It’s been few week maybe more than one month that my meta title doesn’t change once the page has been indexed.
The last meta title is deleted but instead of put the new meta title, i saw it’s the H1 that is use for title.
I dont know what happen and if it’s related to plugin i cannot uninstall the plugin for few days to see if google change the meta title or not and install one by one and wait few days for each plugin to see witch one doesnt work with rank math.

Do you know what can i do to solve this problem ?

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results and we even have a KB dedicated to this problem and a few solutions we recommend:

    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this.

Google has made some changes to their algorithm which automatically changes the titles, discarding the one you have set in your SEO title meta tag. This happens regardless of the SEO plugin you are using. We have covered this Google update here:

    https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

Although we can see a different title in the code source, added by our plugin and controlled by the settings of the plugin, it’s never guaranteed that will trickle down on Google SERPs.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Ike,

    Thank you for the information.
But it’s weird that the first meta title when i post a new page appear and when i change it, google put the H1 instead of the new meta title.

There is nothing that i can do ?

    Thank you for your help

    Hello,

Since the title is already set in the page’s source code, please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

The best you can do is optimize your meta title and description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

    Looking forward to helping you.
