Meta Title and Description Not Updating on Google

1. Check What You Have Set Using Rank Math: Verify that you have updated the SEO Meta Title & Description correctly within the Rank Math plugin. You can refer to this guide for instructions on how to do this:

2. Ensure Your Page Has Been Indexed: Check if Google has indexed the latest version of your page by entering cache: followed by the full URL of the page into your search bar. This will show you when Google last cached the page.

If after following these steps, the issue persists, it is possible that Google may choose not to use the meta title and description you’ve provided due to various reasons, as explained in our article here.

However, it is possible that Google has yet to re-index some other pages. You can request the indexing of these pages by passing them through the URL Inspection Tool and request it there: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl.

Please note that, according to Google, crawling and indexing can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days/weeks. Be patient and monitor progress using the URL Inspection tool.

Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

In that case, our plugin is generating the meta tag with the correct information. It is just Google isn’t using it on the SERP or they haven’t discovered it you.

As we have mentioned earlier, Google may have decided to show a different meta information for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.
