    Rank Math free

    Hi there,
I use RankMath for my open graph meta descriptions, and recently the Title and Description have stopped displaying when images from my site are pinned to pinterest. The URL is pulled across, but not the title or description listed on the image.

This is a new issue and I am wondering if there are any new issues / conflicts between RankMath and Hubbub or WP Recipe Maker that would be causing this issue to occur? It is quite a big and urgent issue as it is impacting my traffic from Pinterest.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rachel

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta descriptions not displaying when images from your site are pinned to Pinterest. This can indeed impact your traffic, and we appreciate you bringing this concern to our attention.

To troubleshoot this issue, please consider the following steps:

    1. Check Open Graph Settings: Ensure that your Open Graph settings in Rank Math are correctly configured. You can do this by navigating to the Rank Math dashboard and checking the settings under the Social tab.

    2. Validate Your Meta Tags: Use tools like the Facebook Sharing Debugger to see how your Open Graph tags are being read. This tool can help identify if there are any issues with how your meta tags are set up.

    3. Conflict with Other Plugins: Since you mentioned using Hubbub and WP Recipe Maker, it’s possible that there could be a conflict. Try temporarily disabling these plugins to see if the issue persists. If disabling them resolves the issue, you may need to reach out to their support teams for further assistance.

    4. Check for Caching Issues: If you have a caching plugin enabled, clear your cache to ensure that the latest changes are reflected.

    5. Update Plugins: Make sure that all your plugins, including Rank Math, are updated to their latest versions, as updates often fix bugs and compatibility issues.

If after trying these steps the problem still exists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific guidance.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!

    Hi there
I have checked the Facebook Sharing debugger, and all is fine – it pulls the open graph meta description and title across. Also when I look at the source code for the post, the open graph meta data is listed in the code.

I also tested pinning using a 3rd party Chrome pin extension tool, and that was able to pull the data across. So the issue is when it is pulling this meta data across to Pinterest.

I have 4 sites with different plugin combinations and the one consistent combination across the sites with this issue is those that use both RankMath and Hubbub together. I am waiting for a response from Hubbub, but in the mean time are you also able to test if there is a conflict between the two? I add descriptions in both RankMath and Hubbub.

    Thanks,
    Rachel

    Hello,

The Hubbub adds duplicate Open Graph meta tags on your site since Rank Math already provides those for you.

In this case, you can get in touch with them to remove those and avoid duplicate meta tags issues.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Hi there, is the duplicate open graph data the reason for the issue though?

I have used both plugins for a long time without issue. I think it is possibly a parsing issue with Pinterest, but not sure if the rank math and hubbub plugins are conflicting when sharing this information to Pinterest in some way.

    Thanks
    Rachel

    Hello,

Yes, duplicate Open Graph tags can cause inconsistent behavior with platforms like Pinterest, especially if both Rank Math and Hubbub are outputting similar metadata. While it may have worked previously, platforms like Pinterest can change how they parse metadata at any time.

We recommend disabling the Open Graph output from one of the plugins, preferably Hubbub, to avoid any conflicts and ensure Pinterest reads the correct metadata consistently.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

ok thank you – I will look into this further.
