Meta Description Won’t Update

    Hi Folks
    The site in question http://www.thehoneymill.com, was built by an agency and all pages are pretty much hard coded using the editor and then the theme wraps around the content. In the header file I can see the line – <meta name=”description” content=”<?php bloginfo(‘description’); ?>”> and regardless of what we do in RankMath to update this is just reverts back to the standard description that is put in the wordpress settings > general > tagline field.

    Is there anything we can replace that with that will recognise the rankmath code to insert meta descriptions?

    The best and simplest way would be to get in touch with the agency to help you get rid of the extra description. You could also check into the theme files to remove the hard-coded description.

    I can comment out that line in the template but after doing that there is still no description.
    How does RankMath feed that into the site? Is it via the function file?

    Hello,

    Rank Math inserts the meta description by using the wp_head function but in any case, it should be inserted just by having the plugin enabled and a meta description set in Rank Math.

    In fact, I have checked it and you have two meta descriptions: the one added by the code you said before (it doesn’t seem to be removed) and the one added by Rank Math so you should try to remove the meta description the agency added (or contact them to remove it) and then, the Rank Math meta description should work fine.
