  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta description on your website. Thank you for raising this concern.

There are several reasons why Google might not be using the meta description you have set. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check What You Have Set Using Rank Math: Ensure that you have correctly set the SEO Meta Title and Description using the Rank Math plugin. You can refer to the following images for guidance:

      • Classic Editor:
Editing Meta Title and Description using Classic Editor
      • Gutenberg:
Editing Meta Title and Description in Gutenberg
    2. Check the Title/Description Set in the Page’s Source Code: Right-click on your page and select "View page source" to ensure that your title and description are set up properly in the page source. You can also use an online tool like HeyMeta to check this.
Check the Title and Meta description set in the page's source code

    3. The Latest Version of Your Page Hasn’t Been Indexed: Sometimes, Google may not have indexed the latest version of your page. You can check this by entering cache: followed by your full URL into the search bar. If the cache date is from before you added the new meta description, you will need to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index your page.
Enter cache followed by the full URL into the search bar
      Check date in cache

    4. Why Google Might Choose Not to Use Your Meta Description: Google sometimes ignores custom meta information and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better. Common reasons include:

      • The meta description is not relevant or useful.
      • The same meta description is used across multiple pages.
      • The meta description doesn’t match what users are searching for.

If you have checked all of these aspects and are still facing issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

    We hope this helps!

    Hello,

Please note that nowadays, Google does that very commonly. Even when everything is fine, Google may choose to display a different meta description or no description for your search query result. Google may skip the custom metadata you have set and instead display something from the page’s content that better matches the search intent.

However, you mentioned you’re currently using the Rank Math PRO plugin on your websites, but the account you have used to open this ticket is the Rank Math free version.

Please search and forward a receipt from FastSpring.com so we can locate your account and verify it.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
