    Hello Rank Math Team,

I’m experiencing an issue with Rank Math on my website https://culvarsmenu.com. The meta description I updated is not reflecting in Google SERPs.

Specifically, I initially added the year 2024 in the meta description but later updated it to 2025. However, even after 3-4 days, Google is still showing the old meta description with 2024.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

    Cleared the website cache.
Resubmitted the page in Google Search Console.
Checked for any conflicting SEO plugins.
Waited several days for Google to update it.
Despite these efforts, the old description is still appearing in search results. Could you please help me understand why this is happening and how I can force Google to update it faster?

    Looking forward to your guidance.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta description not updating in Google SERPs. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve already taken.

Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Caching Issues: Since you’ve cleared your website cache, ensure that any server-side caching (like Varnish or CDN caching) is also cleared. Sometimes, these caches can hold onto old data longer than expected.

    2. Google’s Indexing: After resubmitting your page in Google Search Console, it can take some time for Google to re-crawl and update its index. You can use the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console to check the last crawl date. If it’s before your changes, you can request indexing again to expedite the process.
      Inspect URL on GSC

    3. Meta Description Overrides: Even after making changes, Google may choose to display a different meta description based on what it believes is more relevant to the search query. This is beyond your control, as Google sometimes ignores custom meta information altogether.

    4. Content Relevance: Ensure that the content on your page aligns well with the new meta description. If Google finds other content on your page more relevant to the search queries, it might opt to display that instead.

    5. Wait Time: Sometimes, it simply takes longer for Google to reflect changes in SERPs. If you’ve done everything correctly, it may just be a matter of waiting a bit longer.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these suggestions, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or questions, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope this helps!

Google Shows A Different Meta Title/Description For My Site » Rank Math

    Hello,

We checked your homepage on Google and we can see it is showing the updated meta title on SERPs:

Please note that after changing the metadata on your website, Google might take days or even weeks to update this on SERPs.

Google assigns a crawl budget to your website depending on a lot of factors (especially your posting frequency + the domain authority) and that has a direct effect on how soon or how late your content will be updated on SERPs.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

I am talking about the meta description, not the meta title. The description is still showing the year 2024, even though I have set it to 2025. It has been two weeks now.

    Hello,

You can verify the description meta tag using these tools:

    https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/

If the description is already set, then all you need to do is give Google some time to recrawl your site and update the description on the search results page.

    Looking forward to helping you.
