    Dear Rank Math Support Team,

I’ve noticed an issue with my website, https://explorewatchmenus.com. Despite adding custom meta descriptions through Rank Math, the descriptions are not appearing in Google’s search results. Instead, Google seems to be auto-generating its own snippet.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Ensured the meta description is within the recommended character limit.
Checked that the meta description is properly saved and visible in the Rank Math preview.
Verified that the affected pages are indexed in Google Search Console.
Could you please assist me in understanding why this is happening and how I can ensure my custom meta descriptions are displayed in SERPs? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,
    David

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your meta descriptions not showing in Google’s search results. Thank you for providing detailed information about what you have already tried.

There are several reasons why Google might choose to display a different snippet instead of your custom meta description:

    1. Google’s Discretion: Google sometimes overrides the meta description you provide if it believes that other content on your page better matches the search intent of the query. This means that even if your meta description is well-crafted, Google may still choose to display something else.

    2. Page Indexing: Since you’ve verified that the pages are indexed, ensure that the latest version of your page has been indexed by Google. You can check this using the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console. If the last crawl date is before you made changes, you can request indexing to prompt Google to re-crawl your page.
      Inspect URL on GSC
View Google's last crawl date on GSC

    3. Content Relevance: If your meta description does not closely align with the content of your page or the keywords being searched, Google may opt to generate its own snippet that it deems more relevant.

    4. Schema Settings: Ensure that your schema settings are valid and correctly implemented, as this can also influence how Google displays information about your page.

    5. Character Limit: While you mentioned that your meta descriptions are within the recommended character limit, it’s important to note that Google may truncate longer descriptions or choose not to display them if they exceed certain lengths.

Ultimately, while you can optimize your meta descriptions and ensure everything is set up correctly, the final decision on what appears in search results lies with Google. If you continue to experience issues, we recommend monitoring the performance over time as changes may take a while to reflect in search results.
