  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

It looks like your theme is adding an empty meta description on top of the your page which is getting picked up by search engines. Here is a screenshot:

I can suggest that you reach out to the author of your theme so that they can advise further on this.

In regards to your second question, you do not need to add schema to the homepage since the plugin will already add local business schema to your pages. Nevertheless since you have some FAQs on your homepage, you could make use of the Rank Math FAQ block schema as described here: https://rankmath.com/blog/faq-schema/

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi,

Google will not necessarily show the rating stars or other Schema, though, they check a few things first and may choose not to show, for instance, they check the overall quality of the site, and if the review content is representative of the main content of the page or not.

Here is a quote from one of the Google’s help article:

We perform algorithmic and manual quality checks to ensure that structured data meets relevancy standards. In cases where we see structured data that does not comply with these standards, we reserve the right to disable rich snippets for a site in order to maintain a high-quality search experience for our users. Read our webmaster guidelines for more details.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

What about the meta description through the rankmath for my home page https://theurbansecrets.com, but in SERP google is taking a auto generate meta desc?

    Hello,

We can see the meta description is in the source code of your website (https://theurbansecrets.com/) so it is not a problem due to Rank Math.
You can use this tool to check it by yourself:
    https://www.heymeta.com/url/theurbansecrets.com/

Since the description that HeyMeta shows matches your website meta description (the one in the source code), it means Google hasn’t updated the changes yet.

Then you just have to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index the page with the new info.

Do note that if everything’s fine and Google still decides to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

Here are some of the common reasons Google might not use the meta description you provided:
    – The meta description is not relevant or useful (ie, just a collection of keywords).
    – The exact same meta description is provided across a large number of pages.
    – The meta description doesn’t match what the user is searching for, but other content on the page does.

There is a whole article dedicated to this on SearchEngineJournal:
    https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-offers-suggestions-for-avoiding-meta-description-rewrites/359884/

The best you can do is optimize your meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

    Hi Lm,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Search engines assign a custom crawl budget to each site and thus this may take from a few days to even a week.

Please refer to the response from my colleague above on situations when Google may not update the meta description.

    I hope this helps.
