    Hi RankMath Team,

I use wordpress with elementor plugin to build my site. For SEO i use RankMath for a couple of months and it’s also integrated in elementor. But the meta description i made for all my sites does only show for some pages in the google search results. it’s also all connected to search console. But for most of the pages the meta description does not work.
    any suggestions why?

    Thanks and best regards,

    norman

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I checked your website URL directly to Google Search and it seems the meta description is correctly added there.

Do note that if everything’s fine and Google still decides to show a different meta information for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

The best you can do is optimize your meta description to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

You can read more about it here

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Okay thanks. But the meta describtion which google choose is just a random part from the text and does not summarize the article well…

    Hello,

Can you please share a screenshot of the SERP you are seeing from your end? Also, please let us know which keyword you are using to search for your affected site.

Looking forward to helping you on this one.

It affects more sites. I made a screenshot as an example. How do i attach them in the ticket?

    Hello,

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle,

I added the link in the sensitive data. Can you see it? I marked the SEO describtion and what shows up in google.

    Hello,

I checked the page source, Rank Math is adding the correct meta title and description to the page source.

It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results and we even have a KB dedicated to this problem and a few solutions we recommend.

    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Okay thanks. Cache’s mostly dates from February 2022. So its quite up to date and after i made the SEO describtion in RankMath..
I don’t know why google chooses just a random describtion from the article, which does not summarize the article well. instead it’s just a random and unuseful part… nobody will click on this 🙁 thats so frustrating!

    Hello,

As explained by my colleague, Rank Math already adds the correct meta description as you can see in my screenshot here:

    meta

If Google chooses a different description for this page, it means that Google thinks that the information they render on the SERP is much more optimized for the desired keyword or search term.

You would need to further optimize your content for the desired keyword so Google will finally use the desired meta description.

Please refer to the guide my colleague provided further guides to resolve this.

    Looking forward to helping you.
