Meta Data

    Rank Math free

Our domain is http://www.nzdiving.co.nz. Our meta data has been set for indexing to be allowed for all pages.
Global is also set to allowed and is reflected in every SEO for individual pages.

Source code confirms meta name and content are all the same and correct. Therefore the results should be the same.

ERRORS: We are getting inconstant results with Rank Math analytics; some pages are showing allowed, some not allowed, some unspecified with no reason for the differences.

Why are we getting inconsistent results?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Could you please share the affected URL/s so we can check?

Meanwhile, try deleting old imported data and start the fresh data fetch. Please follow these steps.

    1. Head over to WP Dashboard >> Rank Math >> Tools & Status and click the ‘Rebuild Index’ button https://i.rankmath.com/kecLYK
    2. Head over to WP Dashboard >> Rank Math >> General Settings >> Analytics tab, and click the ‘Delete Data’ button and then click the ‘Update Data Manually’ https://i.rankmath.com/fvcsbF
    3. It will start the new data fetch from Google. You can reload the page to see the notice related to the import process.
    4. Once the process is complete. Please recheck the Analytics page.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for the reply.
I have gone through your process, however, there is no manually update db as indicated in your link.
    Is that a Pro feature?

I have rechecked and the information is the same.
For your information, there are 76 published pages & most have this problem.
    Example: https://nzdiving.co.nz/ssi-deep-diver-speciality/

    Please advise.
    Regards
    Neil

    Hello,

Some actions are only available when you set the plugin to Advanced Mode: https://rankmath.com/kb/switch-from-easy-to-advanced-mode/

After you switch to Advanced Mode you get access to all the settings mentioned before and you should rebuild the index and import the fresh data from Google following the steps mentioned in the previous reply.

Depending on the number of pages you have the import of data can take from 45 minutes to a couple of hours to complete.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi
Sorry I should have updated the last review. The Advanced was already selected and I ran the manual update. This in accordance with your instructions has been done three times now and the indexing is still incorrect in according to the mete data source viewed.

We can clearly see massive inconsistences between one page result and another, despite all of the settings being the same.

Can you review the pages please and let us know where the problem is as we are just going in circles now ?

    Cheers

    Hello,

Can you please share some screenshots of the differences that you are seeing so we can check and assist you further? You can use a tool like https://imgbb.com/ to share the screenshots.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi

Further testing has found the following:
Rank Math “request indexing update” does not work at all!
All of the Global meta and page meta data are set correctly the same on ALL 76 pages.
This information is not being uploaded to Google.

We have now run requested index updates via Google Search console and had far better success. therefore Rank Math is not doing what is described in your information. Rebuilding and flushing data then manually updating now downloads new indexing from Google, only after Google tools are used. This represents a massive amount of time consuming work!

There are still 9 pages remaining with incorrect indexing between Rank Math & Google. I have chosen 2 pages with different Google Search console error results, even though the settings are the same as each other and the same as the successful pages.

I would like you to look at these two pages and tell me why they won’t update from Rank Math to Google.
    https://nzdiving.co.nz/great-barrier-liveaboard-tour/
    https://nzdiving.co.nz/decompression-procedures-diver/

Can you come back to me ASAP so I can finish the indexing for our site?
    Cheers

    Hello,

I can confirm that the URLs you shared are correctly configured and the robots meta is already set to index.

You may also check for URLs in your Google Search Console and look for any coverage issues so we can identify why Google refuses to index your pages.

As for the incorrect information in your Analytics dashboard, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

We have run the indexing again from within Google Search Console & these are the following pages it isn’t indexing although it states they are fine:
    https://nzdiving.co.nz/liveaboards/
    https://nzdiving.co.nz/great-barrier-liveaboard-tour/
    https://nzdiving.co.nz/little-barrier-mokohinau-liveaboard-tour/
    https://nzdiving.co.nz/freediving-courses/

There are a large number of pages that it states aren’t mobile friendly when they are all the same template.

I have requested info from you to grant you access

    Hello,

If Google states that those URLs are fine and ready to be indexed there’s nothing else you can do to force them to appear on SERPs.

It’s completely normal for Google to not index the entire website and according to John Mueller from Google, they don’t even try to index entire websites: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-index-all-pages-20780.html

Even big websites like the one where that article is extracted are not fully indexed on Google.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi Miguel

You clearly haven’t looked at the history to the call!! That wasn’t helpful.
Please check the sensitive data and provide the information we need to assign you a temporary login.

You are supposed to be looking at Rank Math to find out why it is not updating Google!

Let me know if you need me to go over the problem again.

    Hello,

You can use s******@r*********** to create the login link. Also, please check a couple of affected URLs with the URL inspection tool of your GSC account and share screenshots of the results so we can check. You can use a tool like https://imgbb.com/ to share the screenshots.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Login has been added to sensitive data. Error is the same for all three pages “couldn’t fetch”

    Hello,

I’ve read this entire thread and while inspecting your website, I noticed that the sitemaps were redirecting to the 404 page. You can have a look at the screencast in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

This usually happens when the sitmeaps are getting cached. I logged into your website’s admin area and though I was unable to find a dedicated caching plugin, I flushed the sitemap’s cache by following this screencast and the sitemaps are loading properly now: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

Please exclude the Sitemap files of Rank Math from any caching service that you’re using. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, clear your website’s cache and remove all the sitemaps from your Google Search Console account, and then submit only the main sitemap: /sitemap_index.xml

    Here’s a guide with more details: https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

With that said, there are a few things discussed in this thread that I would like to clerify:
    1. It is important to note that a page set to Index in the robots meta settings does not guarantee that the page would get indexed on the SERPs. Indexing depends on the sole discretion of the search engines.

    2. The Instant Indexing plugin helps your pages to get crawled faster. Using the plugin does not always result in the instant indexation of the content. It may take anywhere from minutes to days or even weeks before a URL is indexed. The above first point also applies here.

The Instant Indexing API only sends a request to the search engine to get the content indexed faster. Once the request is sent, it is totally up to the search engines to index the pages, and this may take less or more time.

Crawling and indexing depend on the authority, crawl budget, content quality, and many other factors. Here’s an article listing some of the best practices to get your website indexed regularly: https://ahrefs.com/blog/google-index/

    3. Requests sent from Instant Indexing are different from using the URL Inspection tool of Google Search Console. Instant Indexing sends the request to the Indexing API of Google and then the above-mentioned second point applies.

    4. The data we show in the Index Status tab of the Analytics section, comes directly from the Indexing API of Google. So, except for the cases when the data is not fully fetched/updated, the data we show is what is present in the Indexing API of Google.

However, I’ve triggered the data fetch from the scheduled actions and it would take around 40 minutes to fully fetch the data. Please wait for that time and see if the result changes.

In any case, I suggest you clear your website’s cache and resubmit the sitemaps to your Google Search Console account as suggested above and wait for Google to crawl the website again and see if the results get updated.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you.
