Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta descriptions on your site. It seems that when the meta description is left blank, Rank Math is pulling some unintended content, which is not ideal for your SEO and social sharing.
To resolve this issue, we recommend checking the following:
-
Set a Meta Description: Ensure that you have a proper meta description set for your pages/posts. You can do this by using the Rank Math SEO icon in the Divi Builder:
- Click on the Rank Math SEO icon to access the SEO settings for the page.
- Click the Edit Snippet button and enter a relevant Meta Title and Description.
-
Check for Conflicting Plugins or Theme Settings: Sometimes, themes or plugins can interfere with how meta tags are generated. You can try disabling other plugins one by one to see if any of them are causing this issue. Additionally, ensure that your Divi theme is updated to the latest version.
-
Schema Settings: Make sure that your Schema settings are correctly configured in Rank Math. The Headline in the Schema Builder should show %seo_title% and the Description should show %seo_description%.
-
Check Page Source: After making changes, check the page source to ensure that the correct meta description is being outputted. You can do this by right-clicking on your page and selecting View page source.
If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention!
We are able to work around this problem by entering a custom meta description however we don’t want to be doing this for all pages and know after having used rankmath on other websites that this isn’t normal.
Any human help would be great
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
We checked your homepage’s source code and can see that the meta description does not have such characters.
You can check this using our meta-tag analyzer: https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/
A similar situation we have seen in the past was when a user was using dynamic images in Divi and had the option to include images in sitemap enabled.
Please temporarily disable the “Include Images in Sitemap” option in the Rank Math sitemap settings. This can be done by navigating to, Rank Math > Sitemap Settings > General > Include Images. Toggle this setting off and then save changes.
Let us know if this resolves the issue. We look forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks.
Thanks for your reply Ike,
I’ve followed your steps and will give the index some time to update before checking again.
The homepage (and other pages) now doesn’t have this issue as we have manually added in the meta description.
Thanks again,
Jordan
