Menu Pages Not Indexing in Google Search

Hi, I’m experiencing an issue with my website where certain menu pages are not appearing in Google search results. Rank Math seems to be set up correctly since blog posts and product pages are indexing without problems, but the issue is specific to main navigation and child menu pages.

For example, I created a parent page called “Our Menu” with child pages such as Starters, Main Dishes, and Desserts. These pages are live, crawlable, and work perfectly in the browser, but in Google Search Console they show as “Crawled – currently not indexed.”

Rank Math is set to “Index,” with no noindex tags, and the sitemap includes them. Even after submitting URLs manually, Google still hasn’t indexed them after weeks. I considered duplicate content issues, but each page has unique text, and canonical tags look fine. Could this be related to Rank Math’s advanced settings such as schema or hierarchy?

Has anyone else faced indexing problems with menu or category-style pages? Any advice on resolving this through Rank Math or SEO tweaks would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your website’s menu pages not indexing in Google Search. It sounds like you’ve already taken several important steps to troubleshoot the problem, which is great.

The status "Crawled – currently not indexed" can occur for various reasons, and it often indicates a site-wide quality issue rather than a problem with individual pages. Here are some suggestions to help improve the chances of your menu pages being indexed:

    1. Internal Linking Structure: Ensure that your menu pages have strong internal links from other relevant pages on your site. This can help Google understand the importance of these pages. You can set your important pages as pillar content and let Rank Math suggest relevant internal links.

    2. Content Quality: Make sure that the content on your menu pages is unique, valuable, and comprehensive. If the content is thin or lacks depth, it may not pass Google’s quality checks.

    3. Site-Wide Quality: As mentioned by Google’s John Mueller, if many of your pages are not being indexed, it could be a sign of overall site quality issues. Consider conducting a content audit to identify any low-quality pages that may be affecting your site’s reputation.

    4. Check for Technical Issues: Ensure there are no technical issues affecting these pages. You can use tools like Google Search Console to check for crawl errors or other issues that might prevent indexing.

    5. Schema Markup: While schema markup can enhance how your pages appear in search results, ensure that it is implemented correctly and does not conflict with other settings.

    6. Patience: Sometimes, it takes time for Google to index new or updated pages, especially if they are part of a larger site.
