  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

I can suggest that you make use of our redirections module to create unique and separate redirections for the orphan media; if they are not too many.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I actually don’t know how Yoast handled that. I was thinking that probably the media page is redirected to the page where the image is, even if the media is not attached, but now I am not exactly sure. So I think I actually misunderstood how Yoast used that.

Maybe then the best option is to remove that option at all. Redirecting 404s or pages the the homepage confuses Googlebot and they said it many times.

Yeah, Yoast made it mobile-first, personally I think that should be the approach for everything, you would rarely see now people that use desktop as their primary consuming device most of of the time.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I will pass this on to our developers as a feature request and hopefully this will be added to our future development roadmap.

Feel free to contact us for any other issues, questions or suggestions. Thank you.

    Hello,

If you enabled the redirect media attachments to parent option, the attachments are going to be redirected to the page/post where they were uploaded. You can have the same image on multiple posts/pages and if we make the attachments redirect to the page where they are visible – it will cause duplicate redirections issue.

About your mobile-first suggestion, thank you. We will see what we can do about that.

If you need help with anything else, please open a new support ticket here so we can help:
