Google automatically truncates the meta description if the character lengths exceed 160 characters or the meta description covers more than 920px.
Characters of some languages are wider than English and also all the characters (even in English) are not of the same width. Thus Google truncates the meta description when it exceeds 920px.
The pixel-width of a sentence changes depending on the type of characters used, some are wider than others. That means 2 sentences with the same number of characters can have different pixel-widths.
Simply said, whichever between the 160 characters and 920px is achieved first, Google truncates the rest of the character.
