Massive AMP validation errors caused by Rankmath

    Hello,

    I’ve been facing errors since yesterday evening with AMP, which we have ascertained is now caused by Rankmath. I use the standard Wordfence AMP plugin and until yesterday evening (until I upgraded to the new version of AMP and WordPress) I did not have vaidation issues on every single page.

    Every page on my WordPress editor shows a bunch of AMP validation errors.

    For example on one page (mentioned in the Sensitive Data column), I get just on the first paragraph –

    There are 4 issues from AMP validation.

    Invalid attribute: economic
    Invalid attribute: a
    Invalid attribute: tab
    Invalid attribute: noopener

    So I opened a support ticket on the AMP support page, and they said the issue is due to Rankmath and asked me to disable the Rankmath plugin and check – and as they said the issue did not occur when Rankmath is disabled.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    I’ve tried to check the URL you have provided and using Google’s AMP Test tool too, but I’m unable to find these validation errors.

    If the issue still persists, could you please share where are you getting this issue? You can also take a screenshot using this tool or record a video screencast using a tool like Loom showing the issue and edit the first post on this ticket in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    I see them in the WordPress editor when editing the story. Have updated the Sensitive section with a new link, please have a look.

    It isn’t only an AMP validation problem: it’s also W3C validation.
    I’ve read many support requests, and it seems many other users have problems that could be related to this issue.
    I’ve also signaled in this thread: https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/automatically-links-attributes-always-added-even-if-disabled/
    I think there’s a parsing error in your plugin in the class that works tweaking on wordpress links adding “noopener nofollow” etc…
    I think it’s present only from the last update of your plugin (1.0.59), cause I often check my pages with W3C Validators and they were allright some days ago.
    As you can read in my post (which I linked above) I made many tries with differents configurations, and I’m sure the problem is caused by your plugin.

    Hello,

    The error you are seeing is only on the backend due to how AMPforWP validates. If you check any online tools, you will see there are no validation error on actual AMPs.
