Managing Meta Descriptions for Tour Page SEO

    hi,

    Im using “Travler theme”, supported by “Shine theme”.
    [moved to sensitive data section]

    On the Tour page, there are two places where we can edit the page meta description.

    One is in the theme’s default settings, specifically in the “Excerpt” field,

    and the other is in the plugin I downloaded, Rank Math SEO (as shown in the image).

    To avoid any overwrite issues,

    if you recommended to manage meta descriptions in one place,

    which place should i edit? and leave the other one blank?

    Are you saying that I can edit in ( rank math seo), and leave “except” part blank.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

    Yes, Rank Math uses the meta description based on the data you have added there.

    Also, the other description meta tags like Opengraph (og:description) and Twitter (twitter:description) will be automatically updated once you have used Rank Math to generate your description.

    sorry, I dun quite understand what you mean.

    If I write paragraph A in Excerpt, and paragraph B in Rank Math SEO.

    1) which paragraph is going to show in google search result?

    2)which paragraph is going to show when I paste link in whatsapp Chat?

    Hello,

    Apologies for the confusion.

    For Paragraph B in Rank Math, both of them will be used.

    1. The description you have used in the Rank Math field will be the one that will be shown on the search results page:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/ideal-meta-description-length/#meta-description

    2. When you input the description in Rank Math, it will be also used upon sharing the URL on social media applications like WhatsApp as og:description:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/open-graph-meta-tags/#og-description

    However, if you want a different title or description data on social media applications, then you can configure them on the social tab:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-box-social-tab/
