I am so confused; so changing the image name did change the browser title when you’re in the actual website but it is still
hire-a-mermaid-australia-logo
on google in the big blue title
Hello,
Thank you for contacting the support and we regret the inconvenience caused.
I searched the website on Google and was able to replicate the issue. I checked and when Google last crawled the website, your SEO Title was only set to Home -. You can have a look at the screencast in the sensitive data section of this ticket for a quick reference.
Google did not find this title helpful and decided to use a different one instead (the ALT text in this case).
Title/description not matching is pretty common with Google these days. Happening with 70% of the results that even if everything’s fine, Google can choose to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword.
Google made some changes to their algorithm that automatically changes the titles, discarding the one you have set in your SEO title. This happens regardless of the SEO plugin you are using. We have covered this update here: https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/
However, as you’ve now updated the SEO Title, I suggest you clear your website’s cache and give Google some time to crawl the website, and hopefully, the title on the SERPs would get updated accordingly.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi, Thankyou so much that really helps; I am still confused though WHERE i can change the sites name? just the alt text for that image?
And thankyou or the video, i was hoping it would also be ‘Hire A Mermaid -Family Fun- Meet A Mermaid’ ut it is ‘Hire A Mermaid: Meet A Mermaid -Family Fun’ which is better but still not what i wanted.
Hello,
The site name can be changed from your WordPress Dashboard > Settings > General > Site Title. However, this title can be modified with Rank Math on a per-page and default basis.
You can change the default SEO title for the homepage and specific post types from Rank Math > Titles & Meta > [Post Type Name] > Single Post Title, and you can edit individual posts/pages/CPTs to change this default title as well.
Here’s a guide for editing the Homepage’s SEO title and other details: https://rankmath.com/kb/homepage-meta-title-and-description/
And here’s a general one that applies to all other posts/pages/CPTs: https://rankmath.com/kb/seo-meta-tags/
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
