Looking to retire AMP URLs following having them unindexed

    Hello Rankmath team,

I’ve installed the default WordPress AMP plugin, and recently have manually disabled AMP on pages where I used it, as I wish to move away from AMP. The plugin is active, and when I go to URL 1, it automatically redirects to URL 2.

However, if I deactivate the AMP plugin, accessing URL 1 leads to a 404 error page.

In this time, I’ve also gotten the AMP pages unindexed from Google search, as my GSC says there are 0 valid and 0 invalid AMP pages.

I intend to uninstall the AMP plugin, but I want to ensure that any attempts to access /amp pages will automatically redirect to their corresponding regular pages, as things stand now. Could you advise me on how to set up this redirection using Rankmath?

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing with the AMP pages on your website. It’s great that you’ve already unindexed the AMP pages from Google search.

To redirect all your AMP URLs to your regular mobile URLs using Rank Math, you can follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to the Redirections section in your Rank Math dashboard.

    2. Click on “Add New” to add a new redirection.

    3. To redirect all AMP URLs back to the regular URLs, add your source and destination URLs and select the matching option as Regex from the drop-down list. You can use the following regex pattern:

      • Regex Source URL: (.*)/amp
      • Destination URL: /$1

Here is how the redirect would look like inside Rank Math:
    Add regex redirect

Make sure you activate the redirect by clicking on “Add Redirection” to add the regex redirect.

This will ensure that any attempts to access /amp pages will automatically redirect to their corresponding regular pages.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with this process, feel free to reach out to our dedicated support team here.

    I hope this helps!
