  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your SEO descriptions being shortened. Unfortunately, the context provided does not include a specific solution for preventing SEO descriptions from being truncated after a certain width, especially since you mentioned that you do not have WooCommerce.

To assist you better, could you please provide more details about your setup or the specific platform you are using? This will help us understand your situation better. You can reply to this ticket with that information, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and provide you with the necessary assistance.

Thank you for raising this concern!

I am using Rank Math and setting %seo_description% as description in specific CPT.

    Hello,

You can use this filter instead to register a new variable and modify the meta description limit:
    https://pastebin.com/eyLTZZ1b

And here’s a guide on how you can add a filter to your website:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/

Then, use this new variable in the SEO Metabox: %limit_description%

    Hope that helps.

Snippet didn’t work. Neither added to rank-math.php nor functions.php
    Adding login link, pls check.

    Hello,

We modified the filter code and used the shortcode in the Rank Math meta description field, and you can see the full content is added as the meta description.

However, please note that we don’t recommend using the meta description too long, as Google will ultimately truncate it.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    Hi,
It’s working for normal posts but it’s not the place where I want it to work.
I need it on CPT Atrakcje.
There is global setting on custom description and long_descritpion used but it’s truncated.

    I ment limit_description

    Hello,

The description field where you inserted the custom variable is for the Article schema description. If you wish for the same to be applied for the CPT’s meta description, you should also include the custom variable in the CPT’s meta description field as well:

    Rank Math support

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.

How should I then setup default value?

    Hello,

To set a default meta‑description for your Atrakcje CPT:

    1. Go to Rank Math → Titles & Meta in your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Click the Atrakcje post type (your custom post type).
    3. In the Meta Description field, enter your default template—e.g.:
    %limit_description%

    4. Save Changes.

Now every new Atrakcje item will pull from your limit_description filter by default. If you ever need to override it on a per‑item basis, just edit the meta description in the Rank Math metabox when editing that entry.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    I edited function.
In single post description I have now “%limit_description%”.
    But title’s still truncated.

    Hello,

The variable will only apply to new Atrakcje posts, you will have to manually change it in the metabox within the edit area of the Atrakcje CPT.

Bulk editing options are only available to PRO users: https://rankmath.com/kb/bulk-editing-in-rank-math/

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.

It’s not happening. For ex. this is the new one:
    https://gdziezdzieckiem.pl/szkola-plywania-olimpia/
    and description is truncated.
