Hello! There seems to be a problem with the long and short product description hierarchy.
Rankmath prioritizes short product descriptions. However, it should prioritize the long description with corresponding H1-H3 headlines. I’ve been trying to solve the problem for 2 hours now – without success.
Is there a working solution to this problem?

Hello, we apologize for the issue you are facing with the product description hierarchy in Rank Math.
In Rank Math, the short product description is typically displayed prominently, but it is essential to ensure that your long product description is also well-structured and optimized. Here are some recommendations to help you:
-
Use Headings: Make sure your long description includes appropriate headings (H1, H2, H3) to create a clear hierarchy. The H1 should be the title of the product, while H2 and H3 can be used for subheadings within the long description.

-
Content Length: Ensure that your long description is sufficiently detailed. Aim for at least 200 words to provide enough information about the product.
-
SEO Optimization: Use relevant keywords in both the short and long descriptions to improve SEO. This will help search engines understand the content better.
-
Check Settings: Review your Rank Math settings to ensure that there are no configurations that might be affecting how descriptions are displayed.
If you have followed these steps and are still experiencing issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!
That doesn’t solve the problem. 600 words are required.
In addition, it is not advantageous to include headlines in the short description. that makes no sense. You should also stay under 200 words here.
It is a hierarchy problem from Rank math. Rank math must use the long description text, not the short one.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting support.
This is the order we follow to generate meta descriptions for WooCommerce products:
1. Content from the SEO Description field
If that is missing, then:
2. WooCommerce Excerpt or Product Short DescriptionIf that is missing, then:
3. Template From General Settings in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > ProductsIf that is missing, then:
4. Auto generated Content from the product page (long description)In case you want to force the actual global settings to take precedence you would need to add the following filter on your website:
/** * Use the Description from Global Setting, if the description is missing in the Post metabox */ add_action( 'rank_math/frontend/description', function( $description ) { global $post; $desc = RankMath\Post::get_meta( 'description', $post->ID ); if ( is_product()) { $desc = RankMath\Helper::get_settings( "titles.pt_{$post->post_type}_description" ); if ( $desc ) { return RankMath\Helper::replace_vars( $desc, $post ); } } return $description; });To apply the filter you can use one of the following methods: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Thanks for reply Ike!
Im not sure if this works. Despite this code, the long description text is not prioritized. Rank Math still shows that no headlines are used and the text is too short. therefore the long product description with headliunes is still not used.
He still prefers the short description. The Long Description must be preferred.
BEcause of the Layout of the product page, it is not possible to use a short description with 600 words and headlines.it also does not make sense, that a short descripten needs to have 600 words and headlines.

Hello,
There’s a limitation in the Free version of the plugin where the tests for the products are not customized for product pages. In the PRO version, for example, the plugin only looks at a description of around 200 words to pass that test.
It’s also important to note that the tests inside the products, in the Free and PRO versions look at the long description as well.
You can check the following for reference:

Thanks for Reply!
I installed the Version yesterday to test it. So I will buy Premium today. How can you set Rankmath to prefer the long description text?
I think it worked automatically..He’s still heading for the short description. How can you change it?
Hello,
You don’t need to do anything for the plugin to detect the content inside the long description. That is done automatically in both the Free and PRO plugins as we mentioned above.
If you are not seeing that on your website, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.
