    Hello,
I have a WordPress site that is multilingual (I use WPML plugin to do the translations)
    My question is:
In the Local SEO Module – “General Settings” Should I do translations?
    For example in “Name”
    My name:
    Spanish: Vistahabitat. Fotografía inmobiliaria profesional
English: Vistahabitat. Real Estate photography services
    Catalan: Vistahabiat. Fotografia immobiliària professional

Or, on the contrary, is it more advisable for local positioning purposes to keep a single language and not translate this field?

    (my main language is Spanish)

On the other hand, another very important question is whether for SEO positioning purposes (for Google) in this section of the Local SEO Module, but also in general (for example, in “General WordPress Settings>” Site Title “and” Tagline “? Is it important that I suppress certain Latin characters (for example the accents)? such as “Fotografia” or on the contrary should I keep them? (For example Fotografía … with accents)

    Thanks in advance
    Josep

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting support and bringing your concern to us.

If your local language is Spanish, you can use the plugin in your local language, you only need to download the language from WordPress Dashboard > Updates.

Rank Math displays the translated version of posts and categories in the Sitemap. If you choose other language URL formats, WPML will take care of it by creating hreflang tags and the search engines know the default language of the page’s content and also the translation which is available in different languages.

It is advisable, to keep one primary language(with accent) and the other languages can be translated by WPML.

A translated piece of your original content is considered to be a unique piece of content by Google and other search engines. So, you do not need to worry about causing duplicate content issues when translating your website into multiple languages.

As mentioned before, WPML adds a hreflang tag to your translated pages, which makes it easier for Google to understand and classify your translated content.

Rank Math SEO adds a proper canonical tag to each translated post/page to ensure Google and other search engines know where the original piece of content is located.

Here is an article from our Knowledge Base to understand the customizations that you can make with WPML and Rank Math:

    Hi Chandi,

So, if I have understood you correctly, it is not necessary for me to worry about looking for translation strings for the specific section of Local SEO Module> “General Settings”> “Name”. Is this correct?
In this section I only have to introduce one language in my WordPress back end and that’s it. Right?

And the same in the “General WordPress Settings>” Site Title ”
and “Tagline”: only one language. Correct?

    Thanks for your help,
    Josep

Yes, you don’t have to worry about it. However, as shared in the Knowledge Base article above, certain strings are added to your images and breadcrumbs automatically by Rank Math SEO.

These strings are added in English by default, but you can change them to any language easily.

Here is a quick link for your reference: https://rankmath.com/kb/multilingual-seo-wpml/#translating-general-seo

I’d suggest, kindly go through the entire Knowledge Base article shared in the previous response for a better understanding and optimization of your multilingual website using Translate Press with Rank Math.

We hope this answers your question. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you need help with anything else.
