keywords with services and places

  • I’ve read that Google search intent makes the keyword ‘Tech support in Wilderness’ preferable to ‘Wilderness tech support’, for local SEO.

I’ve also read that Google now permits some flexibility with long-tailed keywords

But in RankMath – if the focus keyword is not an exact match, my page’s SEO score drops enormously.

So if I want to rank for my service ‘Tech support’ in area ‘wilderness’, I am obliged to use the exact keyword ‘tech support wilderness’ which is sometimes clumsy – inserting the word ‘in’ makes the copy far more human-readable (‘tech support in wilderness’)

please advise how i still get a rank math good score

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Rank Math’s SEO tests—like exact focus-keyword matches—are just guidelines, not hard rules. You can keep your copy natural (“tech support in Wilderness”) by doing one of two things:

    1. Use multiple focus keywords: Add “tech support Wilderness” as your primary keyword (for the exact-match tests) and “Tech support in Wilderness” as a secondary keyword. Rank Math lets you target multiple keyphrases, so you won’t lose points for readability.

    2. Don’t obsess over green lights: Modern SEO values natural language over rigid keyword placement. It’s fine if some tests show yellow or red—what really matters is user-friendly content

At the end of the day, write for your readers first. Please note that these SEO tests are only for your reference and don’t affect your site’s actual SEO performance. So, you can safely ignore the tests in this case or if you want use a filter to disable them on your site: https://rankmath.com/kb/disable-seo-content-tests/

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
