It’s been 5 days since Search Console hasn’t read or index my pages anymore

    Hello,

I’ve been trying to submit my publications for indexing for 5 days and the Serach Console doesn’t crawl.

I was getting an average of 1500 organic hits a day on my posts and webstories and since Saturday, I’ve had 0 hits.

I’ve accessed many Rankmath tutorials and others. I followed the instructions to flush the allowed page numbers, permalinks, put and cache code in litespeed.

I also manually went to each page and set the meta tag to be indexed, in addition to going to the rankmath settings and setting it to be indexed as well.

I looked for help in other places like my Server too. Nothing worked. I continue with 0 visits and my most updated posts without indexing.

I would like to know what should I do to recover traffic to my website.

    Thanks,
    Gabriela

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your sitemaps, and they seem to be working fine. You can also use this tool to validate them:
    https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

However, in your robots.txt, there is a sitemap line (/sitemap.xml) that is still opening fine from the Jetpack plugin. You may need to remove those and ensure that it only contains the sitemap from Rank Math like in our default rules here:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/#default-rules

Also, please disable or remove the sitemap file from your website’s root directory as we recommend using a single plugin to generate your sitemaps. Rank Math’s sitemap is generated virtually, so there shouldn’t be any static sitemap files in your website’s directory.

Once done, remove all of your sitemaps and resubmit your main sitemap only by following the steps in this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I just did what you recommended. I modified the robots.txt using the google tool as shown in the following image: https://imgur.com/DeODlP4

The only robots txt file I have on my site is this one: https://imgur.com/arW2f2k (open folder: https://imgur.com/4QLnitL). Do I have to delete it and upload the Robots.txt from Rankmath? Or do I leave it that way?

I don’t understand these technical issues very well. I went into my site folders and looked for sitemaps and found this list (which I divided into 4 pages):
    https://imgur.com/yuiWu1J
    https://imgur.com/OSidLmA
    https://imgur.com/zmokyfZ
    https://imgur.com/vygLtiu

Do I need to remove any of these sitemaps?

Finally, I deleted all the sitemaps that were in the Serach Console and included only the rankmath one, I also disabled the jetpack sitemap.

Can you confirm for me that the settings are now saved?

Thank you very much for your attention. ;D

    Thanks!
    Gab Rocha

    Hello,

Usually, the robots.txt file is located in the root folder of your website. I checked your current robot.txt and it’s configured correctly now.

As for the sitemap. The sitemap files you have searched are the core code of the plugin for the sitemap features and I don’t recommend deleting that.

I would suggest deleting all .XML files you see in this folder: public_html/wp-content/uploads/rank-math

If that won’t work, please remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console again and submit this instead: https://rochag.com/?sitemap=1

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

It’s been over a week since I’ve followed all of your recommendations, but still, ggogle still can’t seem to read my site.

There was no sitemap recognition and also no organic traffic from google.

    Thanks,
    Gab Rocha.

    Hello,

If you see the status of the sitemap it says “Success” which means Google has validated the sitemap and it didn’t find any issue.

About discovered pages being 0, note that if the URLs are getting discovered by other means then the discovered URLs in the sitemap section can be zero. It mostly happens when you have good internal linking, backlinks or use the Instant Indexing plugin. Can you please confirm if that’s the case on your site?

Here is a guide that explains this in detail: https://rankmath.com/kb/zero-discovered-urls-through-sitemap/

This isn’t an issue and you don’t have to worry if the URLs and getting discovered by other means as indexing of the URLs matters, not how Google has discovered them.

Hope that helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.
