Issues with Post Indexing After Switching from Yoast to Rank Math

    Hi Rank Math Support,

I recently switched from Yoast SEO to Rank Math on my WordPress website (https://naijawide.ng), but I’ve been experiencing issues with post indexing since the migration.

Previously, with Yoast, my posts would index on Google—sometimes only when I searched the exact URL—but at least they appeared in the index. However, since moving to Rank Math, none of my new posts are getting indexed, even after days of publishing.

    I’ve ensured that:
    • The “noindex” tag is not set on the posts.
    • My sitemap is submitted correctly in Google Search Console.
    • I’ve activated and configured the Instant Indexing module (though I’m not seeing results yet).
    • My robots.txt file doesn’t block Googlebot.
    • The “Discourage search engines” setting in WordPress is unchecked.

Here’s an example of a post that’s not indexing:

I would appreciate your assistance in diagnosing and resolving this issue so that my content starts indexing properly again.

Thanks in advance for your support!

    Best regards,
    Naijawide.ng

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing with post indexing after switching from Yoast to Rank Math. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve already taken; it helps us understand your situation better.

Since you’ve ensured that the "noindex" tag is not set on your posts and that your sitemap is submitted correctly, let’s go through a few additional checks:

    1. Check Rank Math’s Titles & Meta Settings: Ensure that the default settings in Rank Math are not set to "noindex" for your posts. You can do this by navigating to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and checking each tab to confirm the settings are as per your preference. If any posts need to be indexed, make sure to select the respective "Index" Robots Meta tag.

    2. Verify Global Settings: Double-check your global settings at WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta → Posts/Pages/Products/CPTs to ensure they are configured correctly.

    3. Instant Indexing Module: Since you have activated the Instant Indexing module, make sure you are using it correctly. After publishing a post, hover over the post on the Posts page and select the Instant Indexing: Submit Page option to notify search engines immediately.

    4. Check Robots.txt File: You mentioned that your robots.txt file doesn’t block Googlebot, but it’s worth double-checking that there are no disallow rules preventing indexing. You can edit your robots.txt file in Rank Math at WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Edit Robots.txt.

    5. Google Search Console: After making these adjustments, monitor your Google Search Console for any updates or errors related to indexing.

If you continue to experience issues after these checks, please reply to this ticket with any specific error messages you see in Google Search Console or any other relevant details, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

We hope this helps you resolve the indexing issue soon!

I use Rank Math on my two websites and have double-checked all the settings your bot provided. I haven’t missed anything; everything is intact .

    Hello,

In this case, you should run your page URL using the URL inspection tool of your GSC account to know the status.

You can also share the screenshot of the results here so we can check. You can upload screenshots using this tool and add the link here.

    Looking forward to helping you.
