    Hello Support,

I have created 2 new redirects within Rankmath and now the URLs are showing 301 errors. How can I fix this?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the 301 errors in your redirects. It seems that the redirects you created may not be configured correctly, leading to these errors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

    1. Check Your Redirects: Open the recently created redirects in Rank Math and review their settings. Ensure that they are pointing to the correct destination URLs and that there are no conflicting rules.
      More than one redirection

    2. Review Matching Options: Rank Math offers various matching options for redirects. Make sure that you haven’t accidentally set up broad redirects that could be causing multiple URLs to redirect incorrectly.

    3. Check for Redirect Loops: If your redirects are pointing back to themselves or creating a loop, this can cause issues. Ensure that each redirect points to a final, crawlable URL.

    4. Inspect .htaccess File: If you have made changes to your .htaccess file, check for any additional redirection rules that might conflict with your Rank Math settings. You can edit your .htaccess file through the Rank Math plugin by navigating to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → General Settings → Edit .htaccess.
      edit .htaccess

    5. Test Your Redirects: After making adjustments, test your redirects to ensure they are functioning as expected without causing 301 errors.

If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello Support,

By changing the pages to draft, this resolved the issue. Would this be best practice?

    Hello,

The issue here is you have redirected the URLs, and they are still included in the sitemap.

Please note that the sitemap will not remove redirected URLs that are still available in the WordPress backend.

You can either delete/unpublish/draft those pages, or set them to noindex and they will be removed from the sitemap completely.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you!
