Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the display of your website in search engines. It can be frustrating when things don’t appear as expected.
From your description, it seems that Google is not displaying the favicon and website name for your site, and only the URL is shown. This can happen for a few reasons:
-
Meta Title and Description: Ensure that you have set the meta title and description correctly in Rank Math. You can check this by going to the Rank Math settings for the specific page or post and verifying that the SEO title and meta description are filled out properly.
-
Homepage Meta Title: If this issue is occurring on your homepage, make sure you have set a proper homepage meta title. You can refer to this guide on how to set a homepage meta title and description using Rank Math.
-
Open Graph Metadata: Ensure that your Open Graph metadata is correctly configured, as this can also affect how your site appears in search results. Rank Math automatically adds Open Graph metadata, but you may want to double-check it.
-
Google Indexing: Sometimes, changes may not reflect immediately due to Google not having indexed the latest version of your page. You can check if your page has been indexed by searching for site:yourwebsite.com
in Google.
-
Favicon: Make sure that your favicon is properly uploaded and configured in your WordPress settings. You can check this under Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.
If you’ve checked all these elements and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with the URL of the site in question so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific guidance based on your website’s configuration.
Thank you for raising this concern, and we’re here to help!
This is an automated reply from Rank Math Support Bot. Your ticket has been assigned to a human agent and we will get back to you shortly.
Hello,
Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.
Please note that Google uses a machine learning algorithm to generate the sitename for your pages based on other information it has collected about your website and your industry.
I would suggest keeping mentioning the desired title on both the title of the page and the schema structure (which our plugin automatically adds after configuring the Local SEO settings in Rank Math > Titles & Meta).
Lastly, please go through the Google guidelines about the site name to help you increase the chances of displaying the desired site name on the SERP: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/site-names
As for the favicon, our plugin doesn’t control the favicon, it is usually your theme that is generating the favicon so you need to make sure that your favicon is properly configured. You may check with your theme author for that or you may refer to this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-favicon/.
Even so, it is up to Google to decide if they wish to insert the icon on the SERP, it will depend on several factors, and website authority is one of those factors.https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/favicon-in-search
Hope that helps.
Hello, thank you for your reply. I’ll have a look at the suggested links.
However, it’s still very strange that this problem occurs only with your plugin. I’ve never had this type of problem before. I changed Yoast SEO for Rank Math on the site I give as an example and the problem occurred.
My favicon is set up correctly and is the right size. I’m not the only one with a favicon problem on sites that use Rank Math. You should check it yourself.
Have a nice day.
Hello,
Please make sure that all meta from Yoast are migrated to Rank Math if you intend to keep the same optimization settings. Here’s a guide you can follow: https://rankmath.com/kb/yoast-seo-migration/
As we have mentioned earlier, Rank Math does not control how Google displays site names or favicons in search results—these are determined by Google’s algorithm. Since you mentioned this happens only on some sites using Rank Math, it’s possible that Google is still updating its index.
