Issue with Removing Article Schema in RankMath

    Hello RankMath Support Team,

I’m experiencing an issue with schema management in RankMath SEO plugin. I’ve noticed that RankMath automatically adds Article schema to my pages. Since I’ve already added specific custom schema to these pages, I would like to remove the automatically generated Article schema to avoid duplication.

The problem is that whenever I try to remove the Article schema and update the page, RankMath automatically regenerates and adds it back. This creates schema redundancy which may affect my SEO performance.

Could you please advise on the correct method to permanently disable the automatic Article schema generation for specific pages while keeping my custom schema intact? Is there perhaps a filter or setting I’m missing?

I appreciate your assistance with this matter.

    Thank you

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have caused.

Please check if Rank Math is being blocked by your firewall, which is preventing the changes to the schema to be saved.

    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateSchemas

Thanks for the reply. I double check that I am using siteground hosting, didn’t use any cloudflare or firewall CDN etc, nor using any cache system. Using that latest version of WordPress and Rankmath plugin.

    Hello,

In this case, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We’ve successfully removed the Article schema on the page you shared.

Since the default schema for your pages is Article, even if you remove it, the default will still be applied on the page

    article

To bypass the behavior, you can follow these steps for your other pages:

    1. Delete the article schema.
    2. Click the schema generator and select any schema types (recipe, for example), then save the changes.
    3. Refresh the page, and the recipe schema will still be applied. You can now delete the recipe schema and hit the save button.

    Hope that helps.
