    Hello,

My website, http://readygotraining.com/, has Open Graph meta tags correctly implemented on every page. They display perfectly on platforms like Facebook and Twitter. However, on some other platforms like WhatsApp, they do not appear as expected.

Additionally, the same issue occurs in chat systems of some forums or services like Gmail Chat. But the primary concern is WhatsApp.

I have followed all the recommended guidelines, including:

    Correct Open Graph tag implementation
    Proper image sizing and accessibility
    Gzip optimization
Testing in a development environment without caching
Despite these precautions, the issue persists. Could you please help me understand why this happens and how to resolve it?

You can test any page, such as: https://readygotraining.com/curso-ingles-aptis-esol/.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,
    Juan.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with Open Graph images not displaying correctly on WhatsApp and other platforms. It sounds like you’ve taken many of the right steps to ensure proper implementation, but there are a few additional factors to consider that might be affecting the display of your Open Graph tags on WhatsApp.

    Possible Reasons and Solutions:

    1. Image Format and Size: Ensure that the images you are using meet the recommended specifications. WhatsApp supports JPEG, PNG, and GIF formats. The recommended image size is 1200px X 630px. If your images are not in these formats or sizes, they may not display correctly.

    2. Cache Issues: Even if you have tested in a development environment, sometimes caching can still affect how tags are read. Make sure to clear any server-side cache and also check if there’s any caching on your CDN (if applicable).

    3. Gzip Compression: As you mentioned that you have Gzip optimization enabled, ensure that it is not interfering with the Open Graph tags. Sometimes, Gzip can cause issues with how tags are read by different platforms. You might want to try disabling it temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

    4. Check Open Graph Tags: Use Facebook’s Open Graph Object Debugger to test your URL. This tool can help identify any issues with your Open Graph tags and show how they are being read by Facebook and potentially other platforms like WhatsApp.

    5. Minification Issues: If you are using minification on your site, it could be pushing your Open Graph tags down in the source code. Ensure that your Open Graph tags are within the first 60 KB of your page’s source code, as platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp will only look for them in that range.

    6. Testing on WhatsApp: Sometimes, WhatsApp may cache the preview of links shared in chats. If you have made changes recently, try sharing the link again after clearing the cache or using a different link to see if the new preview appears.

If you have checked all these factors and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or screenshots of your Open Graph implementation, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern! We hope this helps resolve your issue soon!

The image is there with the correct dimensions. The implementation on the page is simple: SEO section → Edit Snippet → Add an image.

The issue persists, and absolutely everything has been reviewed.

I have noticed something that might help: when I update an image on a page, the change and the image do appear on WhatsApp, but after a few minutes, it disappears and returns to the same behavior.

In summary, everything has been tried.

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

We checked the affected page, and the OG tags are generated correctly by Rank Math and it is showing fine on Facebook’s Sharing Debugger tool.

Here are some solutions we can suggest:

    1. Try changing the format from png to jpg to reduce the file size of the image.

    2. We can see a huge amount of in-line script BEFORE the og tags are generated. See screenshot:

    Rank Math support

This type of setup usually discourages social media to read through the couple of first lines of the HTML markup, so you need to relocate the script somewhere below the og tag.

    3. Clear your website caches and try sharing it to WhatsApp again.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
