Issue with OG:Image

#1108532
  • OG:Image is not populating on site. I have it set on the page, within the settings, and even did the setup wizard once more to try to get it to appear. Looked at page source and no OG:Image can be found in meta.

I have this same set of plug-ins and theme on other sites and there is no issue with the OG:Image. Did testing with caching, clearing, minification, etc. and still nothing.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the OG:Image not populating on your site. Since you’ve already checked the settings and performed the setup wizard, let’s go through a few troubleshooting steps to help resolve this issue.

    1. Check Page Source: You mentioned that you looked at the page source and couldn’t find the og:image tag. Please ensure that you right-click on your page and select View Page Source, then search for og:image. If it’s not there, it indicates that Rank Math is either disabled or unable to print your social tags.
Check OpenGraph Image tags in source code

    2. Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins or your theme can conflict with Rank Math. You can follow our troubleshooting guide to identify any possible conflicts.

    3. Minification and Caching: If you are using minification or caching plugins, they might be affecting how the Open Graph tags are output. Ensure that your cache is cleared after making changes and consider disabling minification temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.
Check if OpenGraph tags are pushed towards the end of source code

    4. Gzip Compression: If you have gzip compression enabled in your caching plugin, it may interfere with Facebook’s Open Graph detection. Try disabling it and clearing your cache again.
      Disable HTTP (gzip) compression

    5. Fallback Image: Ensure that you have set a fallback image in the Rank Math settings under Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta → Global Meta. This will help ensure that an image is always available for social sharing.
      Upload a Default OpenGraph Thumbnail

If after trying these steps the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further. A human agent from our support team will take over and provide more specific guidance.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to resolve it quickly for you!

This is an automated reply from Rank Math Support Bot. Your ticket has been assigned to a human agent and we will get back to you shortly.

    Hello,

We checked your homepage, and we can also confirm Rank Math did not generate any og:image meta tag for your homepage.

In this case, please make sure the OpenGraph image you’re using has the appropriate size and format according to the guidelines: https://rankmath.com/kb/open-graph-image-not-displaying/#num-4-2-image-dimensions-image-format

Once done, please try to clear your website cache, including any server-level cache, and check again.

If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
