Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the "noindex" tag on your Rank Math sitemap. It sounds like you’ve already done some thorough checking, but let’s go through a few steps to help resolve this issue:
1. Check the Page Source
First, ensure that the sitemap itself does not contain a noindex
meta tag. You can do this by viewing the page source of your sitemap (e.g., https://rankmath.com/kb/switch-from-easy-to-advanced-mode/) and looking for the
noindex` tag.
2. Verify Rank Math Settings
- Navigate to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta. Check each tab to ensure that the settings are configured correctly and that no pages or taxonomies are set to "noindex" unintentionally.
- Make sure that the Search engine visibility option is unchecked in Settings → Reading. If this option is checked, it can prevent your entire site from being indexed, even if individual pages are set to index.

3. Resubmit Your Sitemap
If you have made any changes, make sure to resubmit your sitemap in Google Search Console. You can follow this tutorial for guidance on how to do that.
4. Clear Cache
If you are using any caching plugins, clear the cache to ensure that the latest version of your sitemap is being served.
5. Check for Plugin Conflicts
Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.
If after following these steps the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will take over and assist you further. Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue quickly for you!

Thank you for your previous response. I would like to share some more details about the issue I am facing.
I have double-checked my WordPress settings, and the “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” option is disabled.
In RankMath, I am using Advanced Mode, and the indexing option is turned ON.
I have cleared the cache multiple times and also tried with different browsers and devices.
However, when I check the URL using Google’s URL Inspection tool, it still shows the noindex meta tag issue.
For testing, I disabled RankMath completely and checked the page source via cURL (command line). In that case, the noindex tag disappears. But as soon as I re-activate RankMath, the noindex tag comes back.
This clearly shows the issue is related to RankMath settings or output. Could you please help me resolve this so that my pages can be indexed properly?
Best regards,
Raheel Qadir

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
The sitemaps are set to noindex because they are not supposed to be indexed in the SERPs. They are only used for URL discovery.
You can ignore the noindex error for the sitemap, as it shouldn’t be submitted to the URL inspection. It should be submitted only to the sitemap section of your GSC account.
The reason is that we don’t want Google to index the sitemap itself; we only want Google to index the pages and posts that are listed on the sitemap. The sitemap is simply a way to inform Google about the pages and posts on your website, not a page that you want to appear in search results.
Do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you.
