Is page weight a ranking factor?

Your external SEO Analyzer tool does not measure page weight. I think you just measure the weight of the HTML.

I notice that some SEO programs measure the weight of 3rd pages. Since my pages can easily weigh 6MB, I’m quite worried.

    Could you give some tips?

    What could I make lightweight?

Mine is a game site to be played online, so it is normal for the weight of the pages to be high. But if I can remove a few MB, it could be to my advantage over competitors and those who use mobile devices.

I notice that the bulk of the weight comes from third party JS: From whoever gives me the games. How can I lighten third party data in Iframes? Apparently, they don’t seem optimized. In fact the game image is not compressed by my plugin.

  • Hello, I apologize for the issue you’re facing with the page weight and the SEO Analyzer tool. While our tool measures the total size of the HTML of the page, it doesn’t currently measure the weight of 3rd party pages or resources like JavaScript files.

To make your pages lightweight, especially for a game site, optimizing third-party resources like JavaScript and images can significantly reduce the page weight. Since you’ve mentioned that the bulk of the weight comes from third-party JS and uncompressed game images, here are some tips:

    1. Optimize Third-Party Resources: You can reach out to the providers of the games to see if they can provide optimized versions of their resources. Compressing images and optimizing JavaScript files can help reduce the overall page weight.

    2. Lazy Loading: Implement lazy loading for third-party resources and images. This will ensure that resources are only loaded when they are needed, reducing the initial page load time.

    3. Content Delivery Network (CDN): Consider using a CDN to cache and deliver third-party resources closer to your users, which can help reduce load times.

    4. Compress Images: If your plugin doesn’t compress game images, consider using an image optimization plugin or service to compress and optimize the images for web use.

Here’s an example of how you can optimize images using Rank Math’s SEO Analysis Tool:
