  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Rank Math plugin and the metadata not updating in Google index. Based on the error message you provided, it seems that the REST route for Rank Math is indeed blocked or not accessible, which can cause issues with saving and updating metadata.

To resolve this, please check the following:

    1. Firewall Settings: Ensure that any security plugins or firewalls on your website are not blocking the REST API routes used by Rank Math. You can refer to our guide on unblocking Rank Math from your Firewall.

    2. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, conflicts with other plugins can prevent Rank Math from functioning correctly. You can check for any known conflicts and resolve them as described in our plugin conflicts guide.

    3. Access the REST Route: You can test the REST route by visiting the following URL in your browser (replace mywebsite with your actual domain):
If you see a response indicating that access is denied, then it confirms that the route is blocked.

If you continue to experience issues after checking these points, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

Okay, I think firewall is not the issue and third step is meaningless. I will check the plugin conflicts and update here. It would be great to see a real support answer for if I checked the route correctly.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Rank Math support.

The message you shared indicates that Rank Math is functioning properly. It is unlikely that this issue is related to your routes. If your Rank Math meta is not displaying correctly on Google, it may be because Google has not yet re-crawled your site.

If you could provide some screenshots showing the URL, the intended metadata, and the metadata that Google is displaying, we would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math!

It’s been a while since I last updated the metadata, so I don’t think the issue is that Google hasn’t crawled it yet. My last cache was on July 30, 2024. Google is just grabbed a text from my homepage and ignored my custom description. I moved the keyword in the section that Google grabbed a couple of lines below and set the maximum snippet length to 134 characters (the length of my custom meta description) to prevent Google from ignoring my description. I’m waiting for Google to crawl again to see if it worked. Also, it’s not just the homepage description. I removed “%sitename%” from all pages like About, Media, etc., quite a while ago. But it still shows the meta title + sitename in search results.

    Hello,

It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results and we even have a KB dedicated to this problem and a few solutions we recommend:

    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this.

Google has made some changes to their algorithm which automatically changes the titles, discarding the one you have set in your SEO title meta tag. This happens regardless of the SEO plugin you are using. We have covered this Google update here:

    https://rankmath.com/google-update/google-title-rewrite-update/

Hope that helps clarify the situation further.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Okay, there is some steps that I didn’t check before in the link you shared. I will try to fix it in every way but there is nothing to do if it’s not possible. thanks for your detailed answers.

    Hello,

It’s important to note that the steps in the tutorial we shared are best practices that could help but it’s never a guarantee with how the Google algorithm works.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any additional questions.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
