Internal Server Error (500)

#1053190
  • Dear RankMath Support,

I am encountering an Internal Server Error 500 in the WordPress backend, specifically on pages where Divi Next Gallery modules are used.

The issue only occurs when RankMath is activated — as soon as I deactivate RankMath, the error disappears.
The team from Divi Next has already investigated and confirmed that their plugin is not causing the issue.

Interestingly, everything was working perfectly until about 3–4 weeks ago.
I suspect a conflict between RankMath and the Divi Gallery module, but I’m not entirely sure what changed.

Could you please assist me in identifying and resolving the problem?

Thank you in advance and kind regards,
    Angelika

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Internal Server Error (500) when using Rank Math alongside the Divi Next Gallery modules. This type of error typically indicates a server-side issue that can arise from various conflicts or misconfigurations.

Here are some steps you can take to help identify and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Review Server Logs: Check your server logs to pinpoint the exact cause of the 500 error. This can provide insights into what might be going wrong.

    2. Check for Overload Signs: Look for signs of server overload, such as slow response times or high CPU usage, which could be contributing to the error.

    3. Verify PHP Settings: Ensure that your site is using the correct PHP version and settings. You can refer to this guide on updating PHP: Update PHP Version in WordPress.

    4. Contact Your Hosting Provider: If the issue persists after checking the above points, it may be beneficial to reach out to your hosting provider for further assistance, as they can help diagnose server-related issues.

If you continue to experience this problem after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve it.

The issue is currently on two of my client websites:

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

5xx errors are usually caused due to server misconfiguration or other server issues.

Can you please share the website error log with us? Having the error log file will give a clear idea of why this might be happening.

You can follow this guide to enable debugging in WordPress https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ or you can get in touch with your web host, and they will help you locate the log file.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I’ve analyzed the error logs further and found that the 500 error is not caused by Rank Math.

It is due to a ModSecurity rule blocking the response because the HTML output size exceeds 1MB:

ModSecurity: Output filter: Response body too large (over limit of 1048576)

This occurs when editing a page using the Divi Builder. I will now contact my hosting provider to adjust this limit.

Thank you again for your help!

    Best regards,
    Angelika

    Hello,
