Good morning guys,
No luck with this one I’m afraid. I still get 429 errors when trying to run the instant indexing.
I have been in touch with the hosting provider and they had applied a fix for me, but this has had no effect on using RankMath Instant Indexing.
This is the hosting providers reply after I advised that the problem remained:
I can’t see anything immediately suggestive in the logs – in fact the RankMath API seems to be getting 200s for the most part that I can tell.
We have also recently gone through the process of whitelisting RankMath’s IP so we shouldn’t be blocking them.
It might be worth checking with RankMath themselves and making sure they are not blocking our external IPs on their side https://docs.20i.com/web-hosting/ip-address-external-connections as seen on this page.
Hello,
The 429 response comes from IndexNow API, not from our plugin. That’s why your host didn’t find any thing in the logs. Please confirm if you are using a shared IP hosting.
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello Jaideep,
Yes, I can confirm we are using a shared IP hosting package.
Gary
Hello,
The 429 error indicates that too many individuals sharing the same IP address are attempting to access the API. Since you’re on shared hosting, other websites on the same shared hosting plan will also be using the same IP address. If all these websites try to access the IndexNow API simultaneously, it could lead to the 429 error.
It is a common issue with websites hosted on shared hosting. You can confirm that by using the official plugin of Bing for IndexNow: https://wordpress.org/plugins/indexnow/
The official plugin will also return the same response code. There is nothing we can do from our end to fix this. Let us know if the official plugin works.
We recommend that you switch to a hosting plan that provides a dedicated IP, or you can try accessing the API at different times when there is less traffic from other users sharing the same IP.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
