IndexNow History

I was curious if instant indexing could be used to quickly remove URLs from webmaster tools. I looked at the IndexNow History and the codes are strangely at 200. The first one should be 410 and the other 310.

I have more than 10k URLs to correct and I don’t have time to wait for the webmaster tools to do things calmly. If I could speed it up it would be better.

Also, you don’t have instant indexing on the 404 Monitor and Redirections tools. it’s even difficult to copy URLs to Redirections.

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the IndexNow History and the response codes being different from what you expected. The IndexNow API typically shows response codes like 200 for successful submissions, not 410 or 310. These codes indicate that the URL was successfully submitted to the IndexNow API.

If you are looking to quickly remove URLs from webmaster tools, you can use the IndexNow feature to submit the URLs for indexing. However, please note that IndexNow is primarily for indexing URLs, not for removal. For removal, you might need to use other methods specific to the webmaster tools you are using.

Regarding your concern about having more than 10k URLs to correct, you can submit them using the IndexNow feature to speed up the indexing process.

As for your feedback about instant indexing not being available on the 404 Monitor and Redirections tools, I appreciate your input. I will forward this feedback to our development team for consideration in future updates.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Thank you for reaching out and providing valuable feedback.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

No, the type of response code you have mentioned isn’t in the IndexNow API. The API will only return the following response codes:

The IndexNow, doesn’t support removing the URLs as it only aims to index a URL faster hence the name.

If you wish to remove a URL, you either wait for the search engine to crawl the URL or use the webmaster tool to manually remove it from the SERP.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.

How to use the webmaster tool to manually remove URLs from the SERP?

Some time ago I had used the removal tools of the 3 webmaster tools, but without much success. The removal rate was very similar. All the while I was adding 410 codes and 301 redirects, so I doubt the removal tools were responsible for speeding up the removal process.

    Hello,

The way to remove the URLs from SERPs is by using the Removals tool of the webmaster tools.

However, please note that the best way to remove any URLs from SERPs is to set the page/post to Noindex and Google should automatically remove them.
