  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the indexed URLs in Google Search Console. It seems that the URLs with the /?_page= parameter are being treated as separate pages by Google, which can lead to duplicate content issues.

To fix this, you can take the following steps:

    1. Use Canonical URLs: Set a canonical URL for your post to indicate to search engines which version of the URL should be considered the primary one. You can do this using the Rank Math meta box under the SEO tab when editing your post.

      • Go to the Advanced Settings and find the Canonical URL field. Enter the main URL of your post without the /?_page= parameter.

      Enter the canonical URL

    2. Redirect Parameters: If possible, consider setting up redirects for URLs with the /?_page= parameter to point to the main URL of your post. This can help consolidate indexing and avoid duplicate content issues.

    3. Check for Pagination Settings: If your post is paginated, ensure that your pagination settings are correctly configured in your WordPress settings or within Rank Math.

    4. Use Robots.txt or Meta Tags: You can also use a noindex meta tag or update your robots.txt file to prevent search engines from indexing these parameterized URLs if they are not necessary.

After making these changes, allow some time for Google to re-crawl your site and update its index accordingly. You can also use the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console to request indexing for the updated canonical URL.

How to Fix ‘Duplicate, Submitted URL Not Selected as Canonical’ Issue in Google Search Console » Rank Math

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Those URLs appear to be URLs of pagination pages.

If you don’t want them indexed on Search Engines you should set their meta robots to noindex.

You can do that with Rank Math by enabling the “Noindex Paginated Single Pages” option from WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta → Misc. Pages
    https://rankmath.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/NoIndex-Paginated-Single-Pages.png

After Google has crawled your site for a while it will remove them from their index/SERPs.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    thank you for your support

but i already have this setting “noindex”

    please check screen shot

but serch console indexed on “2024/MAY/10″and “2024/MAY/9”
    why is it indexed?

    Hello,

Those pages all have a canonical pointing to the main page without the query parameter so Google will not index them but it will try to crawl them because it’s finding them somewhere on your HTML markup.

You can see the referring page by passing those URLs through the URL Inspection Tool on your GSC property and you’ll get information on where Google is finding those pages.

With that information, you can then change the markup of the referring page so those pages are not referenced.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
