    Hi Rank Math Team,

I’m facing an issue where the correct meta description set via Rank Math is not being reflected in Bing search results.

    Here are the details:

Expected Meta Description (from Rank Math): “Your intended meta description here.”

Actual Description Showing in Bing: “The description Bing is currently showing.”

    What I’ve already done:

Set the correct meta title and description using Rank Math for the specific page.

Submitted my sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools.

Ensured robots.txt and meta tags are set to index, follow.

Tried resubmitting the page URL to Bing for reindexing.

Despite these actions, Bing is still showing an incorrect or outdated description. I would like to confirm whether Rank Math is outputting the correct meta tags and structured data for Bing to pick up.

Could you please help me verify that everything is configured properly on Rank Math’s side, or suggest any settings that may affect how Bing picks up the meta description?

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the incorrect meta description showing in Bing search results. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve already taken.

To ensure that Rank Math is outputting the correct meta tags and structured data, please follow these steps:

    1. Check Your Meta Title and Description in Rank Math: Make sure that you have set the SEO Meta Title and Description correctly in Rank Math. You can do this by editing the post or page in the Classic Editor or Gutenberg. Here’s how:

      • Classic Editor: Editing Meta Title and Description using Classic Editor
      • Gutenberg: Editing Meta Title and Description in Gutenberg
    2. Ensure Your Schema Settings Are Valid: Check that the settings in Rank Math’s Schema tab for the post or page are correct. The Headline should show %seo_title% and the Description should show %seo_description%. This ensures that your SEO title and description are used for structured data. Here’s a visual reference:

    3. Check the Page Source: Verify that the meta title and description are correctly set in the page’s source code. You can do this by right-clicking on your page and selecting View page source. Alternatively, you can use an online tool like HeyMeta to check.
Check the Title and Meta description set in the page's source code

    4. Reindexing with Bing: Since you’ve already submitted your sitemap and resubmitted the page URL for reindexing, it may take some time for Bing to reflect the changes. Ensure that you monitor Bing Webmaster Tools for any updates.

If after following these steps, you still see discrepancies, it might be worth considering that Bing may choose to display a different description based on its own algorithms and relevance to search queries, similar to how Google operates.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math Support and bringing your concern to our attention. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Please note that Rank Math adds the meta description exactly as you’ve set it in the page or post settings, or in the global Titles & Meta options. If the correct description shows up in your page’s source code, then Rank Math is working properly. However, search engines like Bing sometimes decide to show a different description based on your page content or what someone searched for.

Could you please open the affected page in your browser, right-click, and view the page source. Look for the <meta name=”description”> tag. Confirm it matches the description you set in Rank Math.

Go to Rank Math → Titles & Meta, and review the global settings for that post type to ensure no fallback variables are interfering.
