Impossible to modify title and meta-description on the whole website

#940119
  • Hello,

I’m encountering an issue with the Rank Math plugin on my website. It’s impossible to save changes when updating the title and meta description, whether on the individual page editor or the WordPress admin page listing all pages.

    All the files :
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateSchemas
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateRedirection
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/getFeaturedImageId
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/getHead

returns a 404 error. The issue seems similar to the one described here regarding a firewall: https://rankmath.com/kb/whitelist-rank-math-in-wordfence/. I installed Wordfence to investigate, but it indicates that the file is not being blocked.

How can I resolve this issue? This is the only website where I’m experiencing this problem.

    Thank you,

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We’ve checked your site and found that Rank Math REST Routes that we use to update the data are being blocked by your Wordfence firewall and most likely this is why you’re facing the issues.

Please check the screenshot in the sensitive data section for reference.

In order to resolve this issue, please try whitelisting the following Rank Math REST Routes that are being blocked on your firewall.

    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateSchemas
    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateRedirection

You may try following this link to learn how you can whitelist Rank Math REST Routes in Wordfence Firewall: https://rankmath.com/kb/whitelist-rank-math-in-wordfence/

If you are unable to successfully whitelist Rank Math, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I have whitelisted the files you mentioned, but the issue persists. It’s still impossible to save changes, and the 404 error appears in the console log.

I usually don’t use the Wordfence plugin but rather All in One WP Security. I know it was previously installed on the website. I only reinstalled it to try and resolve this issue.

A backup has been created. You can access the website using the provided link.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

We would like to debug this further. Please share your website’s FTP login here as well.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.
