    Hello Support Team,

I got my blog page in the sitemap of my website and everything was good for months when i started my website, however I noticed an issue on the Google Search Console which is “Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag” on the main blog page specifically.

I don’t know if I accidentally marked it as noidex, but I couldnt fix it myself or by going through one of your tutorial.

I also tried to remove the noindex tag from the bar on the top of my website (I don’t know its name) here’s a picture https://imgur.com/a/1V9VHAF and still it didn’t work, when I refresh the page I still get the check mark next to the noindex, and when viewing the source code of my page I see the <meta name=”robots” content=”follow, noindex”/>.

I don’t know if I’m missing something or whatever but i hope you help me with this issue even if it a bit advanced like editing some theme files.
And if there is any other info you need I can provide it.

    Thanks and regards.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the noindex tag on your important blog page. Thank you for providing detailed information about the problem.

To resolve the "Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag" issue, please follow these steps:

    1. Check Rank Math Metabox: Open the post/page in the WordPress Editor. If you are using the Gutenberg Editor, click the Rank Math SEO icon in the top-right corner to open the Rank Math Metabox. For Classic Editor, scroll down to find the Rank Math Metabox at the bottom of the page.

      Rank Math Settings

    2. Enable SEO Controls: If the Rank Math Metabox is not visible, ensure that you have enabled Add SEO Controls from Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta Settings → Pages (or other relevant sections).

      Add SEO Controls

    3. Set Robots Meta to Index: In the Rank Math Metabox, go to the Advanced Tab. If you cannot find this tab, please ensure you have switched to Advanced Mode. Check if the Robots Meta is set to No Index. If it is, select the Index checkbox and update the page.

Set Robots Meta to index in Rank Math Metabox

    4. Check for Other Plugins or Theme Settings: Sometimes, other plugins or theme settings might add a noindex tag. Review any active plugins or theme settings that could be affecting this.

    5. Clear Cache: If you are using any caching plugins, clear your cache after making these changes to ensure that the updated settings are reflected.

    6. Resubmit Your Sitemap: After making these changes, consider resubmitting your sitemap in Google Search Console to prompt Google to re-crawl your site.

Submit sitemap to Google Search Console

If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, please reply to this ticket with any additional information or screenshots, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope this helps resolve your issue!

    Hello,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello Rank-math team

I would like you to tell me what to do and don’t get it wrong but I don’t feel like giving access to my WordPress to nobody whether the real or the temporary login credentials and I hope you understand that.

So anything you would do or check in my website i can do myself, just tell me what to do in steps and I can provide back all the details and/or how everything in the settings look like for you to analyse, I know that might be tedeous but I hope you understand.

The thing I don’t understand is that why when I uncheck the “mark this page as noindex” in the screenshot I provided it goes back to checked and yes i tried disabling plugins and clearing cache and besically all the steps provided by your RankBot!

Thank you and I hope to see you again.

    Hello,

It seems that your blog archive is empty.

In Rank Math, we have an option to set your empty archives pages to noindex automatically, which could be the culprit for this issue.

You may check that on your WordPress dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Global Meta

    empty

Let us know how this goes.

    Hello RankMath team,

Yes that fixed the issue and after I unchecked the automatic noindex for the empty and archives page I went to un-check the “mark page noindex” like in the screenshot and it did work this time, even when I reloaded the page.
The issue happened because of a theme update without me noticing that got my blog page empty and in turn Rank Math automatically gave it a noindex since it was empty. Now I have to refill the blog page and then re-check the automatic noindex feature!
Anyway guys thanks for the help I appreciate it.

    Thanks and Regards.
