how to stop 404 erros

    Hi, my site is generating a lot of 404 URL’s and may I know to stop this or identify the source from where it’s getting created like any malware issue.

    One more issue I noticed with the site map, as I resubmitted the sitemap to google webmaster and I noticed that google webmaster shows as 50k+ pages are found, whereas I have less than 100 elements which include pages, posts, categories, etc so could you let me know where the things are wrong.

    I’m sorry to say that we only report the 404s. We do not have information on how or why they are generated.

    I recommend having a security plugin in place to secure your site from attacks or any malware.

    For your sitemap, you should consider deleting the property from your google account and verifying under a different account, and resubmit your sitemap again.
