Hi, I have a problem. I want to index category pages but I can’t because of the “noindex” tag.
I tried to navigate to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Categories and set Category archive robots meta to index.
Then I tried to navigate to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc pages, where I checked that Noindex Archive Subpages is disabled.
The “noindex” tag is still present on the category pages, what can I do?
    Thank you so much

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Please check if the individual category is set to noindex, go to the category > SEO settings > Advanced Tab > Check index checkbox.
    https://rankmath.com/kb/advanced-tab/

Once done, clear the website and browser cache and check the page source.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Thank you for your fast answer.
I went into the individual categories, but “index” is checked. Google search console is telling me that “noindex” is still present. There is a way to clear website cache and reload rankmath settings or do you mean cache saved in my browser?

    Hello,

Can you please share the affected URL with us in the sensitive data section?

Also, check the page source at view-source:https://yourdomain.com/, if the robots meta is set to index, you can submit the URL for validation in the Search Console.

Do note that the Coverage report in the search console is slower and it may show older issues that might have already been resolved.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I checked the source of the category page and it is indeed marked as noindex. Please see the screenshot in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

Since you’ve marked the page as index from the global as well as individual category page settings, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for that information.

I’ve checked your site, and the reason why those category pages are set to noindex is because of the option Noindex Empty Category and Tag Archives:

    Noindex empty archive

That option is enabled by default with Rank Math. I’ve already disabled it for you and those pages are already indexed.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
