    Hello,
I am updating my whole site by merging multiple blogs to one good quality blog.
I am using 301 redirects to redirect old URLS to new URL and so on.

However, i am still seeing the old urls in my sitemap and google is still indexing them.

How can i update or refresh my sitemap and ensure, google stops indexing them and index the new URLs??

    Kindly advice.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

To refresh/flush your sitemap, please follow these steps:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/xXXhDt

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

That should fix the issue. Please let us know if that does not. We are here to assist.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

I have done that. And hope it works.

i have had around 10k pages on my site. However, after googles last update, my traffic has deteriorated badly.

I now want to trim all the pages which are not generating any traffic and use mass 301 redirects.

    I have two questions.

    1. How can i see, which pages not generating any impressions and clicks at all?

    2. Can i use 301 redirect to a different page type? For ex: I have a product category as refurbished phones, and a blog regarding refurbished laptops.
Can i delete all my refurbished phone product pages and 301 redirect them all to the blog page?

    Kindly advice.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. You can check the performance of all the posts from your WordPress admin area > Rank Math > Analytics > SEO Performance.

Here, all the posts are listed with details like Search Traffic, Impressions, Position, and Position History.

You can also click on any post to check the detailed analysis of that post.

    2. You can redirect any post type to any other post type. Please have a look at this screencast where I redirect a post to a product page: https://i.rankmath.com/RMrnW4

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
