    Hello sir,

I have recently transferred my website from blogger to wordpress. I have more than 2000 posts on my website. I am already using a plugin (Blogger Importer Extended – Redirects enabled) for redirection of all my old blogger urls to new wordpress urls. The plugin also created a template to paste on the blogger theme section which is also used for redirection. Blogger uses https://domain.com/2021/12/blog-post-title.html url syntax and in wordpress https://domain.com/blog-post-title/ url syntax. The plugin automatically redirects all blogger format url to wordpress url preserving seo of the old post. Can I use the same automatic url redirection for all my old blogger posts urls into wordpress urls with rankmath and delete the old plugin? If so, how?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The redirections in this case can be achieved by using Regex Redirects in your redirects to redirect from HTML to non-HTML.

Please navigate to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Redirections > Add new

Please use (.*).html$ in the source URL and then add the URL of the destination in the space of the Destination URL.

Kindly go through our Knowledge Base articles on redirections in Rank Math before making any changes to your site:

    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-use-regex-redirects/

    https://rankmath.com/kb/setting-up-redirections/

Once done, and the redirections are working on your website, you can try to disable the Blogger Importer Extended – Redirects plugin and see how that works for you ?

Please let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you further.

    Thank you

    Hello,
Thank you for understanding the issue.
As you mentioned that in this situation I will have to use “(.*).html$” Regex in source url and url of the destination in the space of the destination url. This method is good when you have fewer post url redirection. If the urls are in 100 or 1000 then its very tricky to save all destionation url individually.
Is there any Regex which i can use in destionation url box which will automatically redirect all blogger url format in wordpress url format.

    Hello,

As my colleague indicated in the image shared, the destination URL should include the variable https://yourdomain.com/$1 so that all URLs are redirected to the variation without HTML.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hello,
Tried your method by which .html was removed from the destination url. But it was not redirecting as the url was still showing year and month in the url.

    Before – https://domain.com/2021/12/blog-post-title.html

    After – https://domain.com/2021/12/blog-post-title/

Then I came across another similar ticket in wihic it showed to remove year, month and .html from the url

    Source: /\d{4}/\d{2}/(.*?)\.html
    Target: https://www.domain.com/$1/

Now its working and redirecting all blog posts

    Before – https://domain.com/2021/12/blog-post-title.html

    After – https://domain.com/blog-post-title/

    Is the method correct?

    Hello,

Yes, that is the correct regex rule to redirect the URLs that have month and year in them. We are glad that you were able to find the solution.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.
